It isn’t quite clear to me whether it would have been a boon for Blodgett to have devoured dog-biscuits as a palliative to human stomach cramp; or whether the dog had such cramps, perhaps caused by dog-biscuits, and it would have been a boon for the cur in question for Blodgett to have consumed a quota of the offending biscuits (to spare his pet the gripes). In other words, the ‘which’ in ‘which would have been a boon’ could be the-giving-of-biscuits-to-the-dog-by-Blodgett OR the-bolting-down-of-biscuits-by-Blodgett; and the ‘he’ who suffered from stomach cramps could be Blodgett OR his putative canine companion. Hope this doesn’t sound at all pedantic.
