Now that the second series of apocalyptic zombie drama The Walking Dead hits the TV screens, I consider it my duty to inform Hooting Yard readers of an important fact. Lead actor Andrew Lincoln, pictured above in the guise of his character, sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes, is the son-in-law of Jethro Tull luminary Ian Anderson.
I hope the scriptwriters have taken inspiration from the family connection. In a future episode I shall expect to see a flute-playing zombie standing on one leg.
I saw that pony-tailed, unipedal, progrock flautist in the personal finance pages somewhere – turns out he’s now an expert in personal finance. He became unusually and lastingly rich for a second-tier rock star by being very careful with his pennies.
Gaw : Indeed. I think by the mid-1970s he owned about half of Scotland. With Roger Daltrey, he set the trend for rock-star-turned-salmon-fishing-magnate early on.
I should add that I have always retained a quite preposterous love of Jethro Tull’s work between 1968 and 1972.
At least he’s not selling car insurance.
Or is he?
